he married Elizabeth Gerling 26 May 1891 in Cole County, Missouri

Jefferson City Post Tribune, Wednesday, March 8, 1933, Jefferson City, Missouri

Simon C. Schell, 65, widely known St. Thomas merchant, was stricken while visiting at the Capitol this morning and died a few minutes later at St. Mary's Hospital.

Schell had been here for a visit with his brother, Judge George Schell of the county court. He went to the capitol building with George E. Dewey, an old friend. Dewey said Schell was stricken just after they entered the elevator. A heart attack was believed to have been the cause of his death.

Schell was born in St. Thomas and educated in the Catholic schools there. He entered his father's store when he attained manhood. In recent years he and Judge Schell conducted the store.

Besides his widow he is mourned by several children, five brothers and five sisters.

The body was removed from the hospital to Heinrichs Funeral Home and prepared for burial. It was to be shipped to St. Thomas this evening.
