10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Trinity Reformed Church, 614 Cherry St, Allison, with Rev. Gary Mulder officiating. Burial will be in the Allison Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Friday, March 22, 2013, at Reid's Funeral Chapel, 519 N. First St. Greene, and will continue one hour before services at the church on Saturday.
Gertie Hinders Adelmund, was born on September 4, 1925, in Kesley, Butler Co., Iowa, the daughter of Ben and Gertie (Bruns) Hinders and died Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at her home in Allison. She received her education at the Spring Garden Country School in Kesley.
Early in her life Gertie attended Hitesville Gospel Hall in Kesley. She later moved to Allison where she has been a faithful member of Trinity Reformed Church.
Gertie was united in marriage to Harry Johnson in September of 1941. This union was blessed with three children: Judy, Jenise, and Bud. After the marriage ended she married Ronnie Adelmund on September 24, 1960. This union was blessed with one daughter, Kitty.
Gertie enjoyed fishing and camping. She cherished times spent surrounded by her children and family for dinners and holiday celebrations. Gertie's grandchildren brought a special joy to her life and she treasured being a part of their lives. She was a wonderful, wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to caring for her family.
She is survived by three daughters: Judy Yokom, Janesville, Jenise (Larry) Westendorf, Allison, Kitty Adelmund, Allison; one son: Bud (Hedo) Adelmund, Clarksville; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother: Kenny Hinders, Evansdale; one sister-in-law, Gladys Hinders, Allison.
Gertie was preceded in death by her husband Ronnie in 2000, son-in-law, Robert Yokom, her parents and several brothers and sisters.
