Judy was born on May 5, 1942, in Butler County, Iowa, near Greene, the daughter of Harry and Gertie (Hinders) Johnson-Adelmund. She attended country school near her home in Ripley, and then attended the Allison-Bristow High School.
Following her schooling, Judy worked as a waitress at "Helen's Café'" on the parkade in Cedar Falls and also did housekeeping.
In 1962, Judy was united to Robert Kono in Allison, Iowa, and the couple would later divorce.
On December 12, 1972, Judy was united in marriage to Robert L. Yokom in Galena, Illinois. The couple made their home in rural Janesville. Robert died on August 21, 1993.
Judy was attending the Bethan Bible Chapel in Cedar Falls. In her spare time Judy enjoyed sewing, working in her garden, reading, baking (especially chocolate chip cookies) and dearly loved helping others.
She is survived by her two sons, Michael Todd Kono of Wilmington, North Carolina, Travis Yokom of Waterloo (his fiancé', Connie Westmeyer), Iowa; two step-daughters, Cathy Damm of Parkersburg and Julie Briggs of Waterloo; 7 grandchildren, Justin, Ashlynn, Emma, Jacob, Brady, Mason and Dakota; two sisters, Jenise (Larry) Westendorf of Allison, Kitty (Rick) Stoltenberg of Greene; and a brother, Bryan "Bud" (Hedo) Adelmund of Clarksville.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert Yokom.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at Bethany Bible Chapel at 4507 Rownd Street Cedar Falls, with George Farber presiding. Burial will be in the Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Cedar Falls. Public visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 16th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and also for an hour prior to services on Thursday at Bethany Bible Chapel.
Memorials may be directed to Bethany Bible Chapel or Cedar Valley Hospice.
