J.H. Cantley, Veteran Kanawha Educator, Dies
Fifty-four-year-old J. Hildree Cantley of Elkview Rt. 1, a teacher at Elkview Junior High and a veteran of 35 years in the Kanawha County schools, died Friday in a Charleston hospital after a short illness.
He was a lifelong resident of Kanawha County and was a veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of Glenville State College and had taken graduate work at Marshall University.
Surviving: wife, Marie; daughters, Mrs. Kay Borkowski of Adenton, Md., Mrs. Amylou Landers of Blacksburg, Va.; son, Dwight at home; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Cantley of Big Chimney; brothers, E. Otto and Clayton of Big Chimney; half brother, Clarence Cantley of Anchorage, Alaska; half sister, Mrs. Ethel Hood of Ridgeview; one grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in Hafer Funera1 Home at Elkview by the Rev. D. R. Schoolcraft. Burial will be in Jarrett Cemetery at Elkview.
