They were both at Sam Bradfords store when they began to argue. Sam Bradford threw one of the men out of the store, and tried to get in the middle of the two men. Guns were drawn and a bullet from Martin's gun was said to have glanced Bradford's abdomen and struck Cooper in the heart, killing him instantly. All three men were related. Leroy Martin was acquitted at trial.
