OBITUARY

PETERSON - Jay C., 67, 601 Peterson Drive, Johnstown, died Jan. 15, 1973, at Memorial Hospital. Born Oct. 8, 1905, in Johnstown, son of late Josiah C. and Rebecca (Wagner) Peterson. Also preceded in death by two half-brothers. Survived by widow, the former Mary Hershberger, and these children: Harold, married to Nonie Deitz, and Dean, married to the former Eleanor Nau, both of Johnstown; Martha, wife of James Lapinsky, Windber; also five grandchildren and a great-grandson; and two half-brothers: Dewey Reed, Johnstown, and Floyd Reed, Berlin. Member of the Tire Hill Church of the Brethren. Had been a caretaker for 19 years for the state Highways Department and is a retired employe of the Propane Gas Co., where he was employed for 15 years. Family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the George E. Mason Funeral Home, Davidsville. Funeral service at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Tire Hill Church of the Brethren, the Rev. Merrill Branson. Interment, Grandview Cemetery. Remains will lie in state at the church from noon Thursday until time of service.
