He married Sarah Donnelly (1801-1879). They had five children:

1) Joel Sayre Brodrick (d.1864). Private, 2nd New Jersey Infantry, died as a POW at Andersonville, Georgia.

2). Jane Brodrick

3). Virgil Brodrick (1833-1863) Lieutenant Colonel, 1st New Jersey Cavalry. KIA at Battle of Brandy Station, Virginia on June 9, 1863.

4). Mary Brodrick

5). Sarah Brodrick (d.1881) Married H.M. Freeman.

There is also evidence they had a sixth child who was born and died after living three years.
