Peter was born March 18, 1880 at Kasson, MN, son of Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Melby. He attended the Kasson Public School. On November 4, 1908 he was united in marriage to Lydia I. Hansen. To this union three children were born: Mrs. Lester (Gladys) Fields, Mrs. Harold (Lucille) Eberle and a baby boy who died in infancy. Peter was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a member of the Modern Woodman of America since 1903. As a young man he worked for his father's flour mill in Tyler, MN and later was manager of grain elevators in Russell, Ruthton and Florence, MN. Peter and Lydia made their home in Tyler since 1946. He like sports of all kinds and loved children and reading. Peter passed away at the Tyler hospital at 11:45 PM October 27, 1956. He had been in poor health the past year and spent the last 37 days in the hospital. Death was due to a cardiac condition.
