Ware - Thaddeus F. Ziemba, 87, of 89 West Main St., died Saturday, February 24, 2007 at the Soldier's Home in Holyoke. He was born in Indian Orchard, son of the late Michael and Victoria (Majka) Ziemba, but lived in Ware for many years. He graduated from Ludlow High School in 1937. Thaddeus was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service working at the Ware Post Office before his retirement. He was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W.II, participating in the Rome-Arno Campaign. He received the European, African, Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with 1 Bronze Service Star, the American Theatre Ribbon and World War II Victory Ribbon. Thaddeus was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds sustained in Italy on March 23, 1943. He was an avid golfer, having achieved 3 holes-in-one during his golfing career. He was a member of the Mill Valley Country Club in Belchertown. Thaddeus is survived by his daughter, Carol Ann Hay and her husband John of Ware; three sisters: Julia Rolla of Ware, Nellie Opalinski of Wilbraham, and Evelyn Pereria of Ludlow; three grandchildren: Heather Hay of Hardwick, John Hay of St. Augustine, FL, and Andrea Ben-Ezra of Poughkeepsie, NY; and three great-grandchildren: David and Lauren Ben-Ezra, and J.D. Hay. His beloved wife, Sophie (Roj) Ziemba, predeceased him in 2002. Thaddeus' funeral services with military honors will be held Thursday, March 1, 2007 at 9:15 a.m. from the Cebula Funeral Home, Ware, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Ware.
