Kathryn M. Thorson was born on April 12, 1924 in North Dakota to William Olaf Thorson (1888-1935) and Maria Kristina Gradin Thorson (1884-1963). Kathryn was the youngest of four children in this marriage. Her father died early in her life in the 1935 when the family was living Minot, North Dakota. On 13 Sep 1941, she married Harold Chester Atwood (1919-1999) in the Methodist Parsonage in Sidney, Montana. This marriage produced four children: Gregory Bruce, Ronald Lloyd, Ladonna Faye and William Charles. By 1962 the family had moved from North Dakota to Seattle, Washington. Later in life, Kathryn and Howard moved to Ravensdale, King, Washington where she spent the rest of her life.
