Amanda Ellen Keylon, 93, pioneer Texhoma area resident, died Saturday morning at the Monroe County Hospital in Monroeville, Ala. The daughter of Jesse and Nancy Puterbaugh, she was born on July 5, 1896 in Tipton County, Indiana. The family moved to Hansford County Texas from Indiana in 1908. She married Hardy Keylon June 3, 1914 in Hansford County Texas. They established their home north of Texhorna in 1918. She was a homemaker and an active member of the Texhoma area Church of God. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Howard Keylon; a daughter, Edna Jo Johnson; four brothers and three sisters. Survivors include three sons, Clarence Keylon of Crokett, Texas, Clyde Keylon of Pahoa, Hawaii and Harold Keylon of Blanding, Utah; three daughters, Viola Elkins of Dobson, N.C., May Turpen of Texhoma and Naomi Ruth Kilpatrick of Monroeville, Ala; 23 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and two great - great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, Sept. 4 at 2 p.m. from the Texhoma Church of God with Rev. Lloyd Mattocks, pastor of the Griggs Church of God, officiating. Interment was in the Texhoma Cemetery under the direction of the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
The Keylon family has designated the Cal Farley Boy's Ranch for memorial contributions. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home in Guymon.
