Deceased Name: Funeral today for volunteer Erle James Weller
Services for Erle J. Weller, who ran a charity food delivery service, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church in Dallas. Burial will be at Calvary Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Weller, 74, died of emphysema Wednesday at his Dallas home. After illness forced him to retire from the Park Cities Water Control Department in the late 1970s, Mr Weller looked for something to do with his time. One of his daughters, Mary McKeever, worked in a Tom Thumb delicatessen and suggested that day-old baked goods could be used to feed the city's hungry instead of being thrown out. After checking with health officials and several area charities, Mr. Weller was soon delivering food in his car. Beginning in the early 1980s, he collected food from three grocery stores and took it to several charities for distribution. Mr. Weller's Charity Food Wagon ran for 11 years. Catholic Charities eventually supplied him with a car.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Weller; four daughters, Carol Weller, Ms. Mc-Keever, Laura Cox and Susan Firra, all of Dallas; and three sisters, Lucille Ferguson, Margaret Kemp and Jean Patrick, all of Ontario, Canada.
