Kenneth R. Cooper, 79, Marysville, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at Cambridge Place, Marysville.

A graveside service was at 10 a.m. Monday at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Blue Rapids. The Rev. Jerry Zanker officiated.

Kenneth Cooper was born Oct. 14, 1933, at Winifred, the son of Francis R. and Minnie Lewis Cooper.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1961.

He moved to Marysville in 1977. He worked for Snodgrass Salvage Yard in Blue Rapids, Salina and Bennington before working for the city of Marysville street department for 14 1/2 years and two years at the Marysville tree and brush burn site.

He enjoyed salvage work and continued dealing in salvage until a few years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; his sons, Justin Cooper, Washington, Kan., and Jason Cooper, Garden City; his stepdaughters, Sally Jo Hittle, Marysville, and Darlene Wadsworth, Great Bend; his stepsons, George Lewis, Great Bend, and James Williams, Okema, Okla.; his brother, Fred "Butch" Cooper, Topeka; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Cecil Cooper; and his sisters, Nina Pitts, Barbara Fattig, Mary Gastmann and Alice Douglas.

A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions can be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville.
