Ruby L. (Bird) Szczeblewski, 85, of Evansville, IN, formerly of Du Quoin, passed away at 7:15 A.M., Thursday, February 28, 2013 at the Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN.
Ruby had been a homemaker. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin.
She was born September 4, 1927 at Du Quoin, IL, the daughter of Dewey and Lily (Ridgeway) Bird.
She married Sylvester Szczeblewski on May 14, 1947 at Du Quoin, IL and he survives.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-five years – Sylvester Szczeblewski of Evansville, IN, one daughter – Brenda Webb of Evansville, IN, one son – Danny Szczeblewski of Omaha, NE, five grandchildren – Christopher Szczeblewski and wife Heather of Grand Tower, IL, Aaron Szczeblewski and wife Kayla of Carbondale, IL , Jerry Szczeblewski and wife Robin of Carterville, IL, Barry Bruk and wife Kim of Evansville, IN, and Jessica Webb of Evansville, IN, seven great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son – Jerry Szczeblewski, and two brothers – Herschel Bird and Kenneth Bird.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin with Fr. Nick Junker officiating.
Friends may call from 9 A.M. until the time of service on Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 A.M., Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.
