Mr. Noble Thomas Sullivan, age 91, of Carbondale died Friday February 7, 2003, at 6:06 p.m. in Carbondale Nursing and Rehab Center.
Noble Thomas Sullivan was born May 10, 1911, in Rend City, Franklin County, the son of Oris P. and Bertha (Frazier) Sullivan. He grew up in Thompsonville.
He married Charlotte May Buskill on July 16, 1941, at Jackson, Missouri. They lived their married life in Carbondale until her death on December 31, 2002.
Mr. Sullivan was a switchman for the Illinois Central Railroad for 34 years, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carbondale, the Oddfellow Lodge 233 and the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Karon Bauernfeind of Herrin and Ann and Bill Minckler of Makanda; four grandchildren, Kim and John Bauernfeind of Herrin, Eric and wife, Lisa Minckler, of San Angelo, Texas, and Jim and wife, Heather Minckler, of Makanda; three great-grandchildren, Brendan and Britany Minckler of Texas and Parker Minckler of Makanda; a niece; and many cousins.
Besides his wife, Mae, of over 60 years, Mr. Sullivan was predeceased by his parents, a half brother, Irwin Sullivan, brother, Brave Sullivan, and a sister, Trully McClarran.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Crain Funeral Home Pleasant Grove Chapel, with Dr. Stephen Combs officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 11a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday at Crain Funeral Home Pleasant Grove Chapel.
Memorials are requested for Hospice of Southern Illinois, and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
