Emma K. Gaertner was born Aug. 14, 1895 in Jackson County to Frank and Anna (Birkner) Sherrmann. Two sisters survive -- Mae Bechtlofft of Oak Lawn and Clara Manor of Campbell Hill. Nine brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

She married John Gaertner in 1920. He died in 1957.

Mrs. Gaertner was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the St. Joseph Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Mrs. Gaertner died at the age of 94 in Jackson County Nursing Home.
