was the son of Jane Sayres and Aaron Hoel. He Married Sarah E. Sargent daughter of Jesse Sargent April 15, 1860 in Warren Co., Indiana. They had eight children. He served in the 72nd Inf Reg. Indiana and later transfered to the 44th Inf Reg Indiana.
John married Alice Cora Stevens Nov 30 1911 , Logan co. Alice had a son Clarence Stevens , from a previous marriage.
John Hall married Mrs. Mary Ann Banning Nov. 21, 1917 in Sebastian Co., Arkansas.

HOEL -- John Hoel, 76 years of age died at his home, 1310 North Sixth
Street, at 8 o'clock Wednesday evening following a lingering illness.
Mr. Hoel was a retired farmer and a member of the G. A. R. Short funeral
services will be held at the home this morning at 11 o'clock, after
which the body will be shipped for burial to Ratcliff, Ark. where deceased
lived before coming to Fort Smith. Interment will be made there in
Kersey Cemetery. He is survived by his widow, three daughters, Mrs. James
Cole; Mrs. Henry Lawrence and Mrs. Frank Baker; and a step-son Clarence Stephens.
