OBITUARY NOTICE: Iroquois Chronicle; Iroquois County, Illinois; dated 14 or 15 1909. Excerpt "Mrs. Amy Anderson, one of the oldest residents of Iroquois County, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dora S. Moore, in Woodland, at 11P.M. last Wednesday night, April 07, 1909, at the advanced age of eighty-eight years, one month and thirteen days. Miss Amy Hoel was born in Hamilton County, Ohio, February 24, 1821, and removed to Illinois with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Hoel, in the spring of 1835, locating on what is now known as the old Montgomery farm, about one and one half miles southeast of the present site of the village of Woodland. On the twenty-first of March, 1839, she was united in marriage to Isaac Anderson, who preceded her to the great beyond twelve years ago. To this union eleven children were born, five of whom survive, as follows: George W., of Woodland, John S., near Watseka, Mrs Submit V. Frame, of St. Paul, Nebraska, Frank, who resides on the old homestead place three miles southeast of Woodland, and Mrs. Dora S. Moore of Woodland, she is also survived by twenty-two grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. "Aunt Amy Anderson," as she was generally known, was one of the best known as well as one of the most beloved women in Belmont Township. She was kind, considerate and charitable and ever ready to defend those who were condemned by others, always finding good in everybody and overlooking their faults. She was converted to Christ in early girlhood and united with the Presbyterian Church. Later she transferred her membership to the Methodist Episcopal Church and about three years ago transferred her membership to the United Brethren Church, that she might be nearer her church home. The funeral services were held Friday afternoon at one o'clock from the Methodist Episcopal Church in Woodland, conducted by Rev. Nesbit, after which the remains were laid to rest beside her late husband in the Vennum Cemetery north of Milford. The following six grandsons acted as pall-bearers: Charles G. Anderson of Danville, Willard W. Anderson of Kankakee, George L and Oscar Anderson and Isaac L. and John B. Moore of Woodland."
