Daughter of Frederick Gottlob and Freda Deitz of Alton, Illinois. She was born in Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1854 with her family. She was listed on the 1870 Alton, Illinois census living with her father and William, Caroline and Fritz. She entered the Ursiline Convent, Alton, Illinois in 1873, but in 1874 she decided not to become a nun. She was a seamstress-dressmaker, living with her sister, Caroline in the 1900 census.

.....She had spent practically all of her life in Alton among her friends and relatives. She leaves one sister, Caroline Atland, of Alton, besides many relatives and friends.
The funeral will be held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock from St. Mary's church. Friends are requested to omit flowers.
