William Joyner deTreville was the oldest Son of Col. Richard deTreville and Cornelia Matilda Joyner. He attended Beaufort Academy and graduated from Princeton University in the 1850s. He was admitted to the SC Bar in May 1857 practiced initially in Beaufort, SC. He held several legal positions for the Confederate Government. After the war, he practiced law in Orangeburg, SC. He moved briefly to Brevard, NC and practiced law there but after a few months relocated to Columbia, SC, receiving an appointment as US Commissioner, shortly before his death.
He married first, August 17, 1852, Agnes Givens. Following the death of his first wife, he married second December 20, 1877, Mary Eugenia Ann Darby.

a. Mary Cornelia deTreville, born Beaufort, SC July 23, 1853

b. Franklin Sams deTreville, born Charleston, SC, May 2, 1855

c. William Joyner deTreville, Jr, Born Beaufort, SC, Sep 19, 1857 (Find A Grave memorial #98912714).

d. Minnie deTreville. died infancy

e. Ada deTreville, born Beaufort, SC Oct 1860

f. Sarah Isabelle deTreville, Born Barnwell CH, Sept 1863
