HERSCHEL PADGETT
Herschel M. Padgett, 64, Palmetto Trailer Park and Brook, Indiana, died at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Mr. Padgett was a native of Newton County, Indiana, and came to Palmetto with his wife, October 29, 1951, for their fifth winter visit. He was a farmer and a member of the Evangel U. B. Church in Indiana.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Maude Padgett, Palmetto Trailer Park; one son, Howard G. Padgett, Pocahontas, Iowa; one daughter, Mrs. Darrel Hamman, Brook; two brothers, Denver Padgett, Morocco and Arcadia, and Harley Padgett, Brook; four sisters, Mrs. Laura B. Markley, Indianapolis; Mrs. Beulah Corbin, Richmond, Virginia; Mrs. Vivian Billings, Morocco, and Mrs. Dorothy Rich, Michigan, and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., today at the Palmetto Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Stewart H. Long, pastor, officiating. Edwards Funeral Home will forward the body to Hershman Funeral Home in Brook, for burial.

BROOK, March 23 -- Herschel Padgett, 65, retired farmer, died in Palmetto, Florida, Saturday night of virus pneumonia. He and Mrs. Padgett went to Florida last October to spend the winter. Their home is west of here.

He was a member of Mt. Zion Evangelical U. B. Church.

Surviving besides the widow, the former Maude Light, are a son in Pocahontas, Iowa; a daughter, Mrs. Lucille Hamman of here; two brothers, Denver of Arcadia, Florida, and Harley of here; four sisters, Mrs. Vivian Billings of Morocco, Mrs. Beulah Corbin in Virginia, Mrs. Laura Markley of Indianapolis and Dorothy in Michigan.

HERSCHEL PADGETT DIES IN FLORIDA
Herschel Padgett, 64, well known farmer of the Mt. Zion community, died at Bradenton, Florida last Saturday night of virus pneumonia. Mr. and Mrs. Padgett had gone to Florida last fall to spend the winter. The body was brought to the Hershman and Weston funeral home in Brook where funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. Rollings officiating and burial was made in Mt. Zion cemetery.

Herschel Marion Padgett was born September 28, 1887 in Newton County, Indiana, a son of James and Flora Padgett.

He was united in marriage to Maude S. Light in 1907 and spent the remaining years of his life in Washington Township and was a member of Mt. Zion Central Evangelical United Brethren Church. He retired from active farming in 1945 and has spent several winters in Florida since.

He passed away at the Manattee county hospital in Bradenton, Florida on March 22, 1952 at the age of 64 years, 5 months and 23 days.

He is survived by his wife, Maude, and two children, Howard of Pocahontas, Iowa and Lucile Hamman of Brook, Indiana; and four grandchildren. Also, two brothers and fours sisters: Mr. Harley Padgett of Washington township, Mr. Denver Padgett of Arcadia, Florida, Mrs. Laura Markley of Indianapolis, Indiana, Mrs. Buelah Corbin of Richmond, Virginia, Mrs. Harry Billings of Morocco, Indiana and Mrs. Dorothy Rich of Eaton Rapids, Michigan. He also leaves a host of friends and relatives to mourn his passing.

A brother, Ross, of Goodland, Indiana, preceded him in death two years ago.
