Socialite, Heir to the Guinness Beer Fortune. A close friend of John Lennon and Paul McCartney, his tragic death at the age of twenty-one in 1966 is widely believed to be the inspiration for The Beatles' classic song "A Day In The Life" (1967), from their "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" album. His father was Dominick Browne, 4th Baron Oranmore and Browne, longtime member of the House of Lords, his mother Oonagh was a member of the Guinness family, he enjoyed the life of luxury and social status. In 1963, Tara married Noreen "Nicky" MacSherry, the daughter of an Irish farmer who was four years his senior. In a very short period of time, the couple became parents of two sons and immersed themselves within London's swinging party scene, as they kept company with in addition to John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Marianne Faithful and actors David Hemmings and Terrance Stamp. It is perhaps Tara's sudden death for which he will be immortalized. On December 18th, 1966, Browne was behind the wheel of his Lotus sports car traveling at a high rate of speed (possibly under the influence of drugs or alcohol) through the streets of London when he crashed into a parked vehicle which killed him instantly. His body was taken back to the family's estate in Ireland for burial. Legend has it, John Lennon was reading the news article about the accident and came up with the lyrics for the haunting "A Day In The Life." After Tara's death his wife Nicky fought a bitter custody battle with her mother-in-law for the right to raise her two sons. Her mother-in-law would prevail. Nicky died in 2012 and her cremated remains were interred next to Tara's grave.
