Emma Bell Thackrey was born Dec. 4, 1872 on a farm 6 miles northeast of Centerville, Iowa. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert McCuen. She lived with her parents till the time of her marriage. She was united in marriage to Ezra Thackrey Feb. 14, 1895, and lived her lifetime in Appanoose County, in the Numa vicinity 47 years. To this union 3 children were born. Clifford Thackrey and Sarah Jane Thackrey who preceded her in death. Mrs. M. W. Ruby of Numa.

She is survived by her husband, Ezra Thackrey, one daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Ruby of Numa, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Wilma Thackrey of Numa, 12 grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Thackrey, Mr. and Mrs. Gorden Followell, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Buckalau, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Bennett, Mr. and Mrs. Orval Thackrey, Betty Thackrey, Sharlene, Eugene, Hearold, Arther, Shirley and Donald Ruby, and 10 great grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Jane Holder of Los Angeles, a brother, Mr. James McCuen of Martinsburg, a host of nieces and nephews, two brothers and one sister, two grandchildren preceded her in death.

She was affiliated, with the Church of God (Holiness) in Centerville, Ia. Funeral was held in the Methodist Church of Numa. Burial in the Numa Cemetery. Rev. Austin conducted the service. Pallbearers were Bobbie Owens, Bert Johnson, Jimmie Hibbs, Tom Ross, Raymond Doggett and Phillip Micetich.
