Funeral services for Sylvan Harris, 76, of Carthage will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15 at Jimerson Funeral Home Chapel in Carthage. The Rev. Jack Harris will officiate. Burial will follow in Restland Memorial Park under the direction of Jimerson Funeral Home. He died Sunday, Oct. 12 at Panola General Hospital.
Born May 22, 1921, he was the son of James Robert and Linnie Browning Harris. Sylvan was self employed as a rancher and was in the cattle business. He served many years on the REA Board of Rusk County and was a member of Allison Chapel Methodist Church. Sylvan was preceded in death by his wife, Delta Harris.
Survivors include his children, Ronny and Linda Harris of Beckville, James and Jo Harris of Fairplay, Sylvia May of Beckville, and Diane and David Harris of Spring; grandchildren, Greg Harris of Spring, Mark and Randy Harris of Carthage, Tamara Tempieron, Darla, Daphne, Michelle and Michael Harris, all of Beckville.
