Mary Etta Hutson-Reed rested peacefully and went to heaven on February 6, 2013. Her services will be held at Ladasau Evans Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, February 11, 2013 at 10:00 AM with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery to follow.
She was born on December 4, 1929 December 4, 1929 to George and Margaret Hutson and grew up on a dairy farm in Fletcher, OK riding her horse named "Whisper." She attended school in Fletcher. Her daddy always wanted her to tap dance for the company.
Mrs. Reed married Bob King around 1948 and of this union had 6 children. She is described by her children as "sweet, very giving, caring, and a Christian." She attended her sons ball games and sewed clothes for her daughter's dolls. She was a full time mother. She enjoyed leading her family to God's word in their home Great Bend, KS.
In 1972, she married Mr. Buddy Reed and became the loving mother of two more children. In her years with Mr. Buddy Reed, she enjoyed camping, gardening and many outdoor activities. Their home in Enid, OK became a place for large Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. She enjoyed the companionship of pets. She worked as a grocery checker and lunch server to children.
The grandchildren know of the many banana shakes, lemon cakes, peanut butter balls, and toast with apple butter or honey she provided for them. She played numerous card games and yard darts with them. Most of her grandchildren still enjoy their hand made "Grandma Mary" puff blankets. She also delighted in watching her grandchildren play baseball.
Mrs. Mary Reed was a devoted Christian raising her children in church. She attended Westside Baptist Church, Davis Park Christian Church, and most recently Chisholm Trail Cowboy Church which she enjoyed. Grandma Mary Reed will be missed for her values of forgiveness, loyalty, love, and patience to all who knew her. She used her Faith in God to deal with life's struggles.
She was preceded in death by daughters Janie King and Donna Faye Decker, grandson Randall Decker, great grandson Cord Brooks, sisters Georgia Faye Etter and Francis Thompson, brothers J.D. Hutson, Pete Hutson, and Russell Hutson.
Those left to cherish her memory include husband, Buddy Reed, sisters Marie Crow of Enid, Barbara Catherwood of Tulsa, and Joann and husband Bill Duke of New Mexico, brother Billy and wife Gladys Hutson of Florida, sons Bobby King of Elk City, Eddie and wife Carol King of Enid, Gary and wife Judy Reed of Enid, daughters Patsy Phee of South Carolina, Paula Simms and Don Simms of Enid, and Shawna and husband John Gaines of Enid. She has 17 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
