Was a civil war veteran. Rank: corporal; Company D; Unit 125 IL US INF. At age 27. Height 6', hair black, blue eyes, dark complexion, married, occupation was Cooper. Lived in Vermilion County, IL. Joined on 11 Aug 1862 in Georgetown, IL by G W Holloway for 3 years, muster in on 3 Sep 1862 in Danville, IL. Muster out on 9 Jun 1865 in Washington, DC by Lt Scroggs. His rank then was sergeant.

1871 Hoosier State newspaper. Jacob B and wife transfer 38 62/100 acres in Eugene for $00.00 to Henry Dickerson. 1868 John T. Jones and wife transfer same real estate to Jacob and his wife.

Son of William Clifton and Jane Brown.

A child by the name of William J Clifton died 2 Sep 1861 at the age of 3 years, 10 months, son of J & SA. Has a stone but could not find, must be hard to read. Buried at Sandusky Cemetery near Westville.
