Rev. Earl O. Caryl, 84, Overland Park, Kan., passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at Garden Terrace of Overland Park. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia Lenexa, Kan., where visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Caryl Scholarship Fund at Central Baptist Theological Seminary. Earl was born March 5, 1928, in Davison, Mich., and had lived in the Kansas City area since 1968. Earl was a graduate of Davison High School, Ottawa University, Kansas State University, and Central Baptist Seminary. He served as a Pastor at numerous Churches in Kansas, Michigan, Nevada and Illinois. He was a member of Judson Baptist Church, the Kiwanis Club, Bethel Neighborhood Center and Baptist Ministries Council, and served as past president of the Downtown Club. Earl taught school for 13 years and volunteered for the Library system, Children's Museum, Habitat for Humanity and Presbyterian Manor. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha in November 2012, granddaughter, Jessica Ybarra, six brothers and four sisters. Earl is survived by four children and their spouses, Marcia and Roger McCarty, Sioux Falls, SD, Frank and Diane Caryl, Ottawa, Kan., Myrna and Ray Smith, Shawnee, Kan., Marilynn Heneck, Mission, Kan., 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
