Margaret was born to parents Peter and Kate (Schacher) Abeldgaard. She moved with her parents to western North Dakota. At the age of 13 she returned to Minnesota. She was united to Ray Pearson on November 21, 1945 at the Salem parsonage. Ray and Margaret ran together the "Pearson's Variety Store until 1977.
