Chris "Dago" Purvis age 63 passed away peacefully, at home as promised, with her family and friends by her side February 2, 2013, 2:55 p.m. in Butte, Palmer, Alaska.

Celebration of life and Italian potluck was be Sunday, February 24 at 3 p.m. at Beach Lake Lodge, Chugiak.

Chris will be buried in Valley Memorial Park, June 20. Her mother Mary Benbow passed away June 20, 1998; she was cremated and buried at home. The family will be honoring her memory on Chris's headstone.

Born Mary Christine Quier to Mary (Becchelli) and Cecil in Mishawaka, Indiana May 20, 1949. The family moved to Freemont, California in 1958 and then to Palmer, Alaska in 1966. She graduated from Palmer High School in 1967.

Chris aka "Dago" was strong willed with quite the independent entrepreneurial spirit. In Anchorage, she owned the Tradewinds Bar in Spenard in the 80s and worked at the Timeout Lounge about 15 years. She moved to Palmer in 1999, and worked at Palmer Bar and Delroy's. She also did bookkeeping throughout the years and owned Butte Mailbox Center. Her smile and laughter were contagious and she was always easy to find in a crowd.

Chris was an incredible cook, veracious reader, playing backgammon and cribbage and watching the San Francisco 49ers. She loved her 1981 corvette and was dreaming of the day when she could purchase another one. Her hobbies included flower and vegetable gardening, jewelry making, writing, looking at the stars, and trying to come up with a way to make money so she could work from home. Her latest plan was to start a Peony farm on her property with her daughter.

Preceded in death by her parents and brother "Butch" Cecil Jr. She is survived by son Shawn LaRose; daughter Sonya LaRose, and grandson Devin Corey, Anchorage; sister in law Debbie Quier, WA; brothers Mike and Pam, CA, Joe and Winnie, OK, Scott and Tami, Palmer, AK.

Arrangements were entrusted to Cremation Society of Alaska. www.alaskacremation.com Published in adn.com from February 17 to February 18, 2013
