Alice was the daughter of Michael McCaffrey and Mary Doyle. She married Frank Jaqua on October 9, 1895 in Livermore, IA. They were the parents of Lawrence, Franklin and Ruth.


Oct 9, 1924 - Humboldt Independent - Mrs Frank Jaqua, wife of the postmaster and editer of the Humboldt Republican, passed away at the Mercy Hospital at Fort Dodge, at 7:15 o'clock Friday evening, Oct 3. Her death was caused by spinal injuries received in an auto accident 4 miles west of Milford, NE, Aug 30, while she and her husband were enroute home from a vacation visiting relatives in Kansas.

In the accident Mrs. Jaqua's spinal cord was severed and from the first physicians gave out no hope for her recovery. She was taken to a hospital in Lincoln, Nebr., and a week ago last Monday she was brought to the Fort Dodge hospital, that she might be nearer her family. As a result of the severance of the spinal cord, the lungs filled and the patient passed to her eternal reward Friday evening. Funeral services were held in the Catholic church Monday morning at 9:00 o'clock. Father Davern of Algona, formerly of Humboldt, and others assissted Father Parle. Burial was made in the Catholic cemetery.

Alice Loretta McCaffrey was born in Grove township, Oct. 10, 1875, making her very nearly 49 years of age at the time of her death. She was married to Frank Jaqua, Oct. 9, 1895. For thirty-three years she was a resident of Humboldt. She was a member of the Catholic church and took active part in the church, social, and civil life of the community.

She is survived by her husband and 3 children. The are Lawrence, Franklin, and, Ruth, all of this city. Six sisters and three brothers and a host of friends are also left to mourn her death.
