Mary was the daughter of Patrick Doyle and Mary Hays. She married Michael McCaffrey on February 20, 1854 in Canada. They were the parents of 14 children: Sarah, Kate, Mary, Philip, Patrick, Anna, Ellen, Elizabeth, Margaret, Michael, Alice and Julia (twins), Thomas, and Francis.
April 23, 1920 - Humboldt Republican - Mrs. Mary McCaffrey died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ella Murphy in Waterloo, April 19, 1920, and the remains were taken to Livermore and interred in the Catholic cemetery there Wednesday, April 21, 1920.
The deceased was eighty-five years of age, Dec. 12, 1919. She was married sixty-five years ago to Michael McCaffrey, who passed away twenty years ago.
To them fourteen children were born, ten of whom are living. They are: Mrs. Mary Mickel, of Omaha; Mrs. Anna Godfrey, of Omaha; Mrs. George Sherer, of Chicago; Mrs. Frank Jaqua of Humboldt; Mrs. Tom Berry of Minnesota; Mrs. Sarah Sanders of Los Angeles; Mrs. J.F. Murphy of Waterloo; Tom McCaffrey of West Bend; Michael McCaffrey of Sioux Falls; and Frank McCaffrey of Seattle, Wash.
Mrs. McCaffrey was a good woman in every sense of the term. She was a faithful wife, a devoted mother, a kind neighbor and a true friend. Residents of Livermore who knew her in her long life there all praise her and her work. No one who was seeking or deserving of aid or comfort failed to find it with her. She lived a life teeming with faithfulness in all things both great and small, and her memory will linger long after things of material matter shall have decayed.

Fourteen children were born to them: Sarah, Mrs. Saunders in California; Kate, Mrs. Peter Reilly, who died 8 years ago at Sioux Falls; Mary, Mrs. Mickel at Omaha; Philip, deceased; Patrick, deceased; Anna, Mrs. T.P. Berry, Finlyson, MN; Ellen, Mrs. J.F. Murphy at Waterloo; Elizabeth, Mrs. Godfrey at Omaha; Maggie, Mrs. Shearer at Chicago; Michael, Sioux Falls; Alice, Mrs. Frank Jaqua at Humboldt; Julia, twin sister of Alice, deceased at the age of three years; Tom at West Bend; Frank at Seattle. All theses were present at the funeral except Frank of Seattle.
Previous to her death 5 generations of family lived. She was a great great grandmother and leaves 37 grandchildren.
