Boothe, Walter Lee, 78, of Daleville, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 15, 2012. He retired from Roanoke Cement Company with over 45 years of service, an active member and Deacon of Daleville Baptist Church where he also sang in the Choir and was an active member of the Grounds Committee, loved the outdoors, and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Edward and Mattie Boothe; step son, Barry Clark; four brothers, Joel, Lawrence, Carl, and Billy Wayne; four sisters, Sarah, Kathleen, Doris, and Clara. Walter is survived by wife of 36 years, Nettie; son, Darald Boothe and wife, Donna; daughter, Sherry Martin and husband, Kenny; step children, Curtis and Bonnie Clark; daughter-in-law, Holly Clark; grandchildren, Dustin Holdren, Brandon Boothe, Brody, Davis and Nathan Clark; step grandchildren, Chris and Brian Martin; six great grandchildren, Landon, Layla, Chandler, Sophie, Paul, and Abi; two brothers, Harold Boothe and wife, Jean, J. E. Boothe; one sister, Betty Koger; sister-in-law, Sarah Kadec; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff, nurses and the many friends at the Carrington Place for the many acts of kindness shown to the family during Walter's illness. A funeral service will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, June 18, 2012 at Oakey's East Chapel with Pastor Andy Cobb officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Daleville Baptist Church, P. O. Box 195, Daleville, VA 24083.
