Mr. O'Brien was born in Barnesville, OH and was the second oldest of 10 children.
He was employed by the Western Union and operated the local Medina office. He retired as a train dispatcher for the Nickel Plate Railroad in 1975 and lived in Conneaut, OH for many years. He returned to Medina with his wife, Irene. When she passed away, he relocated to Macon, GA. He was honored as a 4th degree Knight of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his wife Irene (Wirkner) in 2004. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Blaha (Jim), son, Charles Jr.,(Susan), 5 grandaughters, and 16 great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be at the Waite & Sons Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina, OH on Sunday, January 27 between 4 and 8pm.
Funeral Mass and burial will be at St. Martin of Tours Church, 1800 Station Rd. Valley City, OH on Monday, January 28 at 10:00am.
