"Death Summons for Mrs. Miller Comes Wednesday; A Long Illness Ends in Death at Home of Her Parents Here"
After a period of sickness extending over a number of years, Mrs. Bessie Barre Miller passed away at 1:20 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 1927, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Barre, 130 West Seventh Street.
She recently underwent a serious operation and was apparently on the road to recovery, being able to be out on the porch in the morning. Later it was noted that she was not so well, and a physician was called. She rallied, and there was no apparent immediate danger. The family stepped out of the room a moment and upon returning found Mrs. Miller in a state of coma from which she never regained consciousness.
Mrs. Bessie Barre Miller was born at Webbs Station, Jefferson County, Ill., June 25, 1892, making her age at death 35 years, 1 month, and 2 days. On January 14, 1912, she was united in marriage to Nefferson Miller, and to this union three children were born, Chima Mae, Frances Neff, and Nefferson Dale. Frances Neff preceded her mother in death. Mrs. Miller united with the Methodist Episcopal Church at Bellmont in her early youth and remained in this faith until death.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband and two children; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Barre; two brothers, C. A. Barre of this city, Curtis Barre of Whiting, Ind.; three sisters, Mrs. W. W. Ward of Beaumont, Texas, Mrs. Charles Curry of Fairfield, Ill., and Mrs. R. A. Hoskinson of this city.
The funeral will be held from her home at 130 West Seventh Street on Friday at 3 p.m., in charge of Rev. W. E. Bennett assisted by Rev. Powell. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
