Her Dutch parents Jacob and Jantje Wiltjer immigrated in 1882. She was very probably born as Anje Wiltjer, in July 1886 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.

In June 1900 Annie Wiltjer (14 years old, born in July 1886 in Illinois), her father Jacob Wiltjer (39, January 1860, Holland, laborer), her mother Jantje (40, March 1860, Holland) and her sister Christina (13, September 1887, Illinois) lived in the Town of Lake, on the southwest side of Chicago city, Ward 30, Cook County, Illinois.

On October 15, 1908 Anje or Annie Wiltjer and her husband Henry Auwerda had in Chicago daughter Tryntje Anwerda, on February 1, 1910 son Jacob Aneverda and on March 5, 1911 Jantje Aniverda.

In 1920 Annie (33 y, born in Illinois), her husband Henry Auwerda (35, Holland) and their children Theresa (11, Illinois), Jacob (10, Illinois) and Jeannie (8, Illinois) lived in North Township, Lake County, in the utter northwestern part of Indiana.

Before 1930 Annie divorced from Henry Auwerda, but apparently she kept his surname.

In 1930 Anna Auwerda (43, divorced), her son Jacob Auwerda (20) and her daughter Jeanette Auwerda (19) lived in Highland, Lake County, in the extreme northwestern part of Indiana. Her ex-husband Henry Auwerda (45, divorced) lived there too in 1930 as boarder at the home of the Dutch couple John (36) and Jantien Hoogeveen (22).

In April 1940 her ex-husband, farmer Henry Auwerda (55, divorced) lived at an own farm in Highland Town too, North Township, Lake County, Indiana. Housekeeper Effie Yonker (43, Holland, divorced too) and hired hand Henry Dexter [Dykstra] (55, Holland, single) lived with him. They all three lived in 1935 in the same house.

Anna Auwerda died in July 1949 at the age of about 83 years in Indiana, very probably in Highland, Lake County.
