John D. Ainsworth is the son of Francis Tolman Ainsworth. He was born in Springcreek, Warren, Pennsylvania. His family settled in Belvidere before 1845. His father died in Apr 1850 en route to the California gold fields. His mother, Julie Ann Ainsworth is buried in Belvidere Cemetery. He had one brother, George Francis Ainsworth and sisters, Mary (Daniel) Foster, Emiline (George) Coffin, Julie Anna (David) Swain. Sarah(James) Blair. A sister, Jane, died during childhood. He married Olive Avery. Their children did not survive infancy.
