Cecile Perry Laves, age 86, of Austin, died peacefully Friday, January 11, 2013. CeCe was born April 20, 1926, in Hot Springs, Arkansas to Caroline and Norton Perry.

She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, where she met her husband, Benard Laves. During college, she was a member of Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority. Upon graduation, CeCe worked as a dietitian in the Austin Independent School District. In 1960, she and her husband founded Benold's Jewelers of Austin, where she worked for many years.

CeCe was very active in the community. She was a life member of Hadassah and B'nai B'rith Women. She was a member of the Austin Women's Symphony League, Temple Beth Israel, Congregation Agudas Achim and later a founding member of Temple Beth Shalom.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Eileen Laves Guzick, and her brother, Jay H. Perry.

Her memory will be cherished by her son Barry S. Laves, her son Alan Laves and his wife Daemie Laves, her grandchildren Daniel Guzick, Louis Guzick, Susan A. Laves, Sarah Laves, Jacob Laves and Kennedy Lakics, a large extended family, and her many friends.

Interment will be held at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, with Rabbi Neil Blumofe of Congregation Agudas Achim officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Laves's honor to the Temple Beth Shalom or Congregation Agudas Achim.
