Eileen Laves Guzick, age 52, of Austin, died Saturday, June 5, 2004, with her family at her side. Eileen was born June 27, 1951, in Austin to CeCe and Benard Laves. She graduated from S.F. Austin High School in 1969, and subsequently graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in Education. During college, she was a member of Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority. Eileen first taught at W.T. White High School in Dallas, where she was voted Most Valuable Teacher in the Dallas Independent School District. Later, she taught at McCallum High School in Austin. After her children were born, Eileen worked for Benold's Jewelers of Austin. Eileen was very active in the community. She was a life member of Hadassah and B'nai B'rith of Austin, and served as President of B'nai B'rith Women. Services were held at 12:00 noon, Monday, June 7, 2004, in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, with Rabbi Alan Freedman of Congregation Beth Shalom officiating and Cantor Neil Blumoff of Congregation Aguadas Achim. Interment followed at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery.
