Alice Marie Lauritzen was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on February 3, 1934. She passed away peacefully at home in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 10, 2013.
Marie was the oldest of 13 children born to Marion & Alice Cheney. Marie graduated with a Bachelors degree from Utah State University and began her career as a school teacher.
On December 21, 1962 Marie married Elden Lynn Lauritzen. They have five children: Linda, Andrea, DaLea, LaGrand, and Darwin. Marie has lived most of her life in Rexburg, Idaho where she raised her family and enjoyed hobbies such as playing the accordion, piano and organ; sewing, gardening and baking.
She had a successful career as a school teacher in Madison County.
She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and served a full-time mission in the East Central States Mission and later, after retirement, as a Family History Missionary in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
In July 2010, Marie moved in with her daughter, DaLea, and her family in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Marie is survived by her 12 siblings and their spouses, her five children, two daughter-in-laws and a son-in-law, 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the Archer/Sunnydell LDS church (201 West 8000 South). The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Wednesday at the church from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Sutton Cemetery.
