At 15 years of age she joined the Methodist Church of Old Langdon, Kansas, and taught a Sunday School class there for several years.
On September 20, 1903, she was united in holy matrimony with John Birt, also of Arlington, Kansas, by Rev. F. L. Rutlidge, pastor of the Old Langdon Methodist Church.
They made their home at Arlington for several years, and here their five sons, Charles LeRoy, Joseph Ansell, L(M)erlyn Levere(n), John Elvin and Dannie Dee were born. Joseph Ansell died in infancy.
In 1916, Mrs. Birt moved with her husband and sons to their farm 20 miles north of Guymon where she made her home until her death.
In May 1935, she took Lola Maxine Woolsey to raise, as a daughter. It was her dearest wish to help her finish her education.
She has been a wonderful wife sharing a rare and beautiful campanionship with her husband for 43 years, and a devoted mother, beloved by her 4 sons. She is loved and remembered by her neighbors and friends for the beautiful flowers which she grew in profusion and took pleasure in sharing with them.
