CHARLES L. BIRGE, MEMBER OF SCHOOL BOARD , IS SUMMONED
Charles L. Birge of 504 S 14th Street passed away Tuesday when he suffered a heart attack.
Born in Winona, Minn. on Dec 7, 1879 , he attended school there and later in Chicago where the family moved when he was a young lad. He was married to Miss Bertha Senkbeil of this city on June 20, 1905, and the couple always made their home here.
Mr Birge was employed by the Chicago & North Western railroad from 1898 until his retirement in August of 1945. For the last 40 years of his employment he was yardmaster.
He was a member of Sheboygan Lodge Number 11, Harmony Chapter No. 10, Order of Eastern Star No. 139, B.R.T. Badger Lodge No. 282. He was a past master of Sheboygan Lodge No. 11, F. and A.M. and a member of the Board of Education for the past eight years.
Survivors are his wife; five children, Harold of Milwaukee, Marvin and Roland of this city, Mrs. George (Ivy) Page, Jr. of Milwaukee and Miss Myrtle at home. Six Grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs Henry Schlichting of Sheboygan Falls, Miss Irene Birge of Fond du Lac, and Mrs Hariah Young of Spring Green: a brother Theodore of Washington, D.C. Two children and two brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 3:30 pm at Ramm Funeral Home with Rev Wilford Evans, officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, beginning this evening.
