Catherine Moore Pounders, 70, of Russellville, Ala., went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 18, 2005. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at Spry Memorial Chapel, with burial in Franklin Memory Gardens. Officiating at the funeral will be Brother Mark Smith.
Pallbearers will include Lee Malone, Michael Malone, Jerry Beard, Jody Beard, Roy Malone and Tim Moore. Ralph Malone and Joe Malone will be honorary pallbearers.
She was the widow of Norris Moore, who preceded her in death Feb. 1, 1998, and Carl Pounders, who preceded her in death Dec. 13, 2004; also preceding her in death were her parents, Brady and Pearl Malone; sisters, Martha Ann Beard and Doris Elder; brothers, Audrey Malone, Jackson Malone and Ossie Malone.
She is survived by one daughter, Brenda Ovitt and husband, Bob, Russellville, Ala.; two sisters, Francis Fisher, Leighton, Ala., Faye Glenn, Russellville, Ala.; four brothers, Buddy Malone, Russellville, Ala., Hershel Malone, Highland, Ind., Roger Malone, Phil Campbell, Ala., Leon Malone, Nashville, Tenn.; grandchild, Jonathan D. Alsbrooks, Russellville, Ala.
She was a member of Russell-ville First Freewill Baptist Church. She was born in Russellville on Nov. 30, 1935. She was a loving mother and grandmother and had a tremendous joy of cooking for others. The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Kelly, Midsouth Home Health, Wiregrass Hospice, friends and family, especially Jerry and Linda Rains for their loving care, concern and prayers during mother's illness.
