Obituary: "Death of Mrs. Thos. Maloney - Again the Death Angel has visited in our midst - this time to accompany home the spirit of our old friend and neighbor, Mrs. Thos. Maloney, who died last week Thursday evening after a brief illness of one week, although she has not been strong for many months. On Friday previous to her death she complained of weakness and stomach trouble, but was some better Saturday. On Sunday she thought she was getting better, but on Monday she did not feel so well, and when bedtime came she thought it too warm to sleep in her room on the lower floor and wished to go upstairs, where she thought it might be cooler. She started upstairs and when she reached the top step she fell backwards to the floor below, receiving injuries to her spine and about the head from which she did not recover. But still, through all the pain she must have suffered, she remained the same considerate and affectionate wife and mother she had been for so many years. She lingered until 7 o'clock p.m., Thursday, when God was pleased to take her to enjoy her reward. Mrs. Maloney was born in county Mayo, Ireland, 59 years ago last Christmas. She came to the United States with her parents when a small girl. They settled near Scranton, Pa., where she married Mr. Maloney in 1862. They came to Iosco in 1863, where she has since lived. Nine children were born to her, eight of whom survive her. She had a host of friends, for none knew her but to love and admire her. Surviving here are her husband, four sons and four daughters. The sons are John G., James, Richard and Frank; and the daughters are Misses Anna and Celia, and Mesdames John Costello and P. Kane, of Butte, Montana. The funeral took place form St. Jarleth Catholic church, of which she was a devout member, Father Ryan officiating. The funeral was very largely attended, over 100 teams being in the procession. She was a devoted Christian wife and mother, a kind neighbor and highly respected by all who knew her. The whole community sympathize with the bereaved family."
