Obituary: "Mr. Thomas Maloney Joins the Silent majority - This community was shocked Monday to learn of the sudden death of Mr. Thomas Maloney, of Iosco. Mr. Maloney fell about two weeks ago and splintered one of the bones in his arm near the elbow. He had been in rather feeble health for some time and the shock of this accident increased his illness. The cause of his death, however, was organic heart trouble. Mr. Maloney was born in Ireland in 1834. He came to America in 1852 and lived in the state of New York about two years. He then went to Pennsylvania where he resided ten years and then came to Minnesota, settling in Iosco in 1863. He married Miss Catherine Gorman in 1861. Eight children were born to them, all of whom survive both father and mother - Mrs. Maloney having died several years ago. Mr. John Maloney, and Misses Anna and Cecilia Maloney, whose homes are in North Dakota, reached the bedside of their father before he expired. These three children and the two sons, Richard and Frank, who live on the home farm, were present at the funeral. His two married daughters, Mrs. P.H. Kane and Mrs. Costello, one residing in Montana, the other in Philadelphia, were unable to be present. A nephew, Patrick Maloney, of Minneapolis was also present at the last services, which were held Wednesday morning in St. Jarleth's Catholic church in Iosco. Mr. Maloney has always been an upright man, highly esteemed by his acquaintances. His children mourn the loss of an indulgent father. The sympathy of many hearts goes out to them in their sorrow."
