Mary Araminta Barker married Theodore Francis Thomas in 1922 in St. Peter Church, Waverly, Union Co,, KY. After the ceremony, the nuns at St. Peter's had a wedding breakfast for them at the convent. Afterwards, they caught a train at the Waverly depot and rode it to Evansville, where they stayed the night at the McCurdy Hotel. The next day they boarded a train to French Lick and West Baden for their honeymoon.

Araminta and Theodore had seven children: Raymond Eugene, Mary Virginia, James Bernard, Ursula Marie, Donald Louis, Dorothy Louise and Phillip Irvin. Donald and Dorothy were twins.
They lived and worked on the farm that Theodore's father, James Irvin, had bought shortly before he died. They were forced to move when the federal government bought the land for Camp Breckenridge.
