Mrs. Grace Mae Wilson Karalis of Route 1, Axton, VA went to be with her Lord at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville, VA.
She was born in Henry County, VA to the late Tyler Albert Wilson and Brooksie Cox Wilson.
She lived most of her adult life at 262 West 22nd Street in Manhattan, New York for a number of years, working for a jewelry manufacturing company as a diamond cutter.
Following her retirement, she moved to Draper, NC to be near her youngest sister Daisy Sunshine Wilson Mitchell, my Mother. A month ago, she and husband Uncle Nickolas Anthony Karalis moved to Irisburg, VA and lived next door to my first cousin Carroll Wilson.
She was married three times to John Francis Hanley in New York, Pete George Castros on November 8, 1944 in Henry County, VA and Nicholas Anthony Karalis on June 20, 1951 in the City Clerks office in Manhattan, NY. Later she and Nicholas had a formal wedding in the Saint Eleftherios Greek Church on May 5, 1957 in Manhattan, NY. I was a Candle Bearer in her wedding with Uncle Nicholas Karalis.
No children from the marriages.
In addition to her husband, her survivors include two sisters Ruby Wilson Harris of Stoneville, NC and Bessie Wilson Smith of McComb Mississippi and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at McKee Funeral Home in Martinsville.
