Jack was born Oct 21, 1915 to Gerhard and Katherine (Jantzen) Kliewer. He grew up on a farm near Hillsboro. He graduated from high school at Pawnee Rock. He joined the the U S Army Air Force and later transferred to the infantry and served in the German theater of operations. Following his discharge in Nov, 1945 he returned to Parsons where he worked at the former State Bank of Parsons. He retired from the bank on Jan 1, 1980, as a vice-president and trust officer. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He married Marie Westhoff on April 11, 1942 at St Joseph Church in South Mound. She survives of the home. Other survivors are: a son Douglas of Hannibal, MO, two daughters, Kay Kliewer of Shawnee, and Susan Robison of Salina, four grandchildren, and a sister Miriam Gibson of Marshall, MO.
