STOUGHTON - Mrs. Betsy Spilde, 89, died today in a Stoughton nursing home.
Born in 1877 in Iowa, she was married to Jens Spilde in December, 1895. They moved to Stoughton in 1898 and farmed and lived in the area most of their lives. He died in 1947.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Geda Melaas, Stoughton; four sons, Sander, Beloit; Bennie, Harold and James, all of Stoughton; two brothers, Henry and Helmer, Decorah, la.; two sisters, Mrs. Gertina Rasmussen, Watertown, S. D., and Mrs., Nellie Rasmussen, Grand Rapids, Minn.; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p. m. in the West Koshkonong Lutheran Church, of which she was a member, the Rev. Gerald Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at Holzhuter Funeral Home, Stoughton, after 2 p. m. Friday.
