Rosalia Fuso,was born in Italy, the daughter of Carmelo Fuso and his wife, Febronia (Lafarina) Fuso. She immmigrated in 1912 with her mother on the SS Mendoza and joined her father in South Barre, where she lived for more than 50 years. About 1987, she moved with her husband to California.

After being naturalized in 1919, Carmelo Fuso changed the names of his family to Foster and their first names were "Americanized".
