Last rites were accorded John Wesley Redfield Greenup of Beach, N.D., on Thursday, Sept. 15, at 2 p.m. at the Evangelical United Brethren Church, Beach, with Rev. C. Lee Birdsall officiating. Mr. Greenup lived in the Trotters community for 49 years.

Serving as pallbearers ere Luther Hodgin, Conrad Brungard, Austin Slocomb, Harry Madison, Sigvold Skaar and Donald Metcalf. All neighbors and friends were designated as honorary pallbearers. Interment was in the Beach Cemetery.

John Wesley Redfield Greenup was born on Dec. 13, 1890 at Valley City, N.D., the son of Rev. and Mrs. Wm. Allen Greenup and was educated in schools there. Mr. Greenup was united in marriage to Dagny Marie Pedersen at Ellingson, S.D., on Mar. 22, 1911. He ranched in the Trotters area of Wibaux County 49 years. During this time he and his family were always interested in church work, and assisted in many ways.

In 1960 he and his wife retired into Beach, which has since been their home.

Following a sudden illness of only a few hours duration, Mr. Greenup passed away at Beach at the Golden Valley Community Hospital on Sept. 12, 1966 at 7 p.m.

Survivors include his wife and three children: two daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Florence) Bosserman, Golva, N.D., and Mrs. Clarence (Irene) Keene, San Jose, Calif., and one son, John A. Greenup of Pikeville, N.D., 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, as well as three sisters, Mrs. Grace Newkirk and Mrs. Minerva Lawhead, both residents of Vancouver, Wn., and Mrs. Leona Burnett, Visalia, Calif., and many loyal friends.

Because of his wife's critical illness, John A. Greenup was unable to attend his father's rites.

The Greenups lived in the Skaar community soon after their marriage and he supported all worthwhile projects for the betterment of his community all the years he lived there.
